On one of my many trips to the GBT in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.
Hi, I'm Dr. Michael Busch, welcome to my website! I am an NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellow working with Dr. Karin Sandstrom at UCSD. I obtained my Ph.D from Johns Hopkins University working with Josh Peek and the late Ronald Allen in 2022.
I am a radio astronomer and I study the distribution of molecules in the ISM and the large-scale structure of molecular material in Galaxies by observing the ground state OH molecule in the ISM and comparing to archival and new observations of HI, CO and 3D Dust maps.
I'm broadly interested in galactic structure, the transition between atoms and molecules in the interstellar medium, astrochemistry, and the impact of molecular gas tracers on star formation histories.
